Maine Coast estate listed by Anne Erwin Sotheby's International Realty
It is certainly good to see that not every agent had a disastrous 2008. Anne Erwin Sotheby’s International Realty participated in the majority of luxury home sales in the towns of York, Kittery, and Ogunquit in Maine in 2008.
In 2008 there were 15 sales of properties listed at over $1 million in York, Kittery, and Ogunquit. Anne Erwin Sotheby’s International Realty participated in 60% of these luxury sales, either as the listing agency, the selling agency, or both. 2008 also proved to be a record breaking year for the agency, achieving two record prices last year: An Ogunquit oceanfront property achieved the highest price ever recorded in York County ($5.4 million) and Highland Farm, the highest price for a non-waterfront property ($3 million). In York alone, of nine sales with a list price over $1 million, Anne Erwin’was involved in seven.
2008 was merely adding to their dominance of the luxury real estate market in York county, Maine. There were 59 luxury properties sold for over $1 million in Kittery and York combined 2006/7; Anne Erwin Sotheby’s International Realty participated in 29. 2007 brought two record breaking sales including the highest riverfront price in Kittery ($2.65 million), and the highest price in York ($4.175 million).
Clearly, one of the skills needed to succeed in a tough economy is to establish trust with both buyers and sellers, develop a niche and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of that niche. A quick peek at the agency’s website and you will also learn that all but one of the agents on Anne Erwin’s team are women. I am not prepared to draw any conclusions from that, but it certainly seems like a winning formula from where I am standing. An example of the type of property the team specializes in is the classic Main Coast estate shown in the photo top right. Originally built in 1895, but since restored and modernised and listed at $3,495,000. The website is here – Anne Erwin Sotheby’s International Realty , and we wish the team a great 2009.
Sotheby’s International Realty themselves are having an up and down time at the moment. The art market is dragging heavily and the parent company, Sotheby’s auctions made substantial losses last year, with 2009 looking equally difficult. On a more positive note, the realty division seems to be moving ahead in leaps and bounds and recently opened it’s first real estate office in Vietnam.

I applaud the success of Anne Erwin Sotherby’s International Realty in 2008 and wish them an equally successful 2009. I live and work in the Lakes Region of NH where the luxury home market has be fortunate to avoid any notable decline in sales prices. I’m am working hard to establish a presence in the NH luxury homes market and enjoy these positive reports.
Thank you Link,
It was a pleasure to be able to report on something positive for a change.
I think you may need to look at pricing in the near future though, there seems to be an awful lot of bad news coming from the financial services industry.
