Twitter – it seems as though everyone is “Twittering,” at the moment. Even Barack Obama used Twitter to help get himself elected. Of course, now he is leader of the free world that is no longer needed, and his twitter profile has not been undated since Jan 19th. Oh well..
Regardless – used correctly Twitter is a useful marketing and networking tool for real estate professionals. Some swear by it and it is certainly worth adding to your repertoire of online promotional tools. It helps to have a web presence already although that is not strictly necessary.
But – how to use it effectively? Like any other social networking platform, Twitter delivers results based on the level of input from the user. It is very easy to be sucked into one of the many “easy ways to get millions of followers on twitter and generate a flood of traffic to your website,” offers – Do not do this. There is no such thing as a free lunch, and this apples to Twitter as much as anything else.
The guys and gals over at cyberhomes have written an ebook about the best ways to use twitter for real estate – it is free. And by free, I mean no charge – not free if you buy something else, which seems to be the new meaning of the word “free.” Pay them a visit, download the book and get twittering. We are on Twitter, of course (talk about keeping up with the latest in online marketing trends) Luxury Property on Twitter.
As of now, Twitter is certainly the social networking platform, and even facebook is rethinking their approach as they lose users to Twitter – thank goodness – I can hardly wait for the stripped-down version of facebook they are working on – one too many silly apps for my taste at the moment. And if you would care to hook up with me there, this is my profile – Mark Knowles on Facebook.
Twitter has also not monetized itself yet. No doubt when that happens, Twittering will become a very different experience, but for now it is probably the easiest. least time-consuming social networking site.
