Luxury Automobile Manufacturers turn Interior Designers
Things must be getting tough in the Luxury Automobile market. I can’t imagine why car makers would be turning interior designers otherwise. But this seems to be the latest trend. This is a selection of furniture and other interior design products being made by car manufacturers:
The Aston Martin sofa
I really can’t see one of these in my sitting room, and it seems fairly well put together, but according to autoblog, it will set you back around $7,300. A bit much for something I would only consider sticking in the basement
The Porsche 917 seat
This one appears not to be a factory official seat. Built by Inspired design in the UK.
It seems a shame to push it up against a wall what with the effort that has gone into the back of the design.
I think I would prefer the original design.
Then of course you have the Maserati Lamp
Well, if Aston Martin can make a sofa, Maserati can make lamps. This one is actually rather stylish and I might consider actually using this one.
The Maserati lamp is designed by Marco Morosini and the Lumina website is horrible in the way only Italian websites can be. I still like the lamp though.
Pininfarina have been designing cars as well as interior design products for ever, so I suppose this is not exactly a new trend.
