Colorado Mansion Online Auction

Colorado Mansion Online Auction

We have seen a number of luxury property auctions recently, but I believe this is the first online-only event. FRE.com are auctioning a 14,000+ sq ft mansion in Denver, CO, and bidding will be through the website only.

5800 Piedmont Drive is described as “exquisite,” by the auctioneers, features panoramic front-range views of the surrounding Rockies, and sits on more than 2.5 acres in Cherry Hills Village, a few minutes from downtown Denver. Bids start at $3.9 million, which is a considerable reduction from the $6.5 million original asking price.

The mansion has been up for sale for some time now and failed to sell. Far be it for me to suggest that a poor choice of venue is one of the reasons it is still available, but over-pricing may be part of the equation. I will, as usual be interested to see whether the seller is actually prepared to accept a lower offer. Most of the auctions we have covered recently have attracted bids, but invariably the seller has refused to accept them.

The auctioneers are also offering five ultra-premium lots for sale. I am not entirely sure what “ultra-premium,” means. Somewhere between supra-premium and mega-premium I suppose………..
