Brett Butler Sells Hollywood Hills Home

08-266405Actress and comedienne Brett Butler sold a three-bedroom home in Hollywood Hills for $2 million. The home had been on the market for $2.347 million. Although the house sold in April, the papers weren’t recorded until last month. It doesn’t appear to have been bought by another celebrity.

According to Mr. Big Time, the house has three fireplaces, an atrium great room, a pool, separate guest house and a fair-sized yard on just over 3/4 of an acre.

The atrium great room has a ton of windows, with views of the trees and hills. It opens out straight to the pool. We love the brightness of the room with all of those windows. Not really digging the fireplace, though. But there’s not enough of it in the pictures to get a great view.

The kidney-shaped pool has several palm trees at one end and a little deck/ entertaining area next to it. And the kitchen? Well, you know our love of kitchens. It seems nice, with what could possibly be cherry wood cabinets. A six-burner stove is always a good sign. But other than that, there aren’t enough shots of the kitchen for us to adequately drool over it. And that? Makes us sad indeed, my lovelies.

The living room seems pretty huge, with a raised ceiling and exposed beams. The beam look may not be for everyone, but we like it when it’s done right. You can fit a couple of extremely long couches and plenty of chairs, so it would be perfect for someone who likes to have quiet parties with lots of friends sitting around, sipping wine and talking about their latest book club read.

Anyway, we’re a little surprised that anything in the Hollywood Hills is going for “only” $2,000,000, especially one with views of the city and Hollywood sign.

Butler is best known for her acerbic humor and television show, Grace Under Fire.

Update: Michael Jackson foreclosure delayed - again

neverlandWell, here we go again, kiddies. Once again Michael Jackson is reporting that his Neverland Ranch has been saved from foreclosure. The loan was bought by Colony Capital, a real estate investment firm.

The $23-24 million loan was previously held by Fortress Investment Group. And we all remember the drama involved in that deal, don’t we? They were ready to foreclose and the property was slated for the auction block on May 14.

But Jackson was in negotiations with Colony. Reuters reports that Colony is “very comfortable” holding the loan and negotiating payment. Really? With whom? Jacko certainly isn’t bringing in the bucks like he used to. So where is he going to get money for this?

We have no idea, darlings. Just no idea. But we do still wonder if someone will restore Neverland to its former glory, or just redevelop it within an inch of its life.

Teri Garr Decides to Sell Brentwood Home

Garr's home for sale for $3.995 millionActress Teri Garr has just listed her house in Brentwood for $3.995 million. Built in in 1924 (according to the listing), the house has two bedroom suites, with the master filling the entire second floor. It has a rear garden with pool/spa, three bathrooms, and a guesthouse above the garage.

We just love the massive windows and vaulted ceiling in the master suite. But there’s a bit too much white all over the house for our taste. The rooms seem fairly spacious — especially with the multiple sets of french doors leading outside, which really open up the rooms. There’s a lot of greenery surrounding the place, too, which lends to some nice privacy. We wouldn’t mind sitting out on the patio with a good book and nice, tall glass of tea.

It appears that a lot of craftsmanship went into this home. Look closely at the kitchen for some good storage over and next to the door. And there’s a nice little wine rack system built into the counter that opens out into the dining room.

Garr is reportedly selling the home due to her health. She’s best known for her roles in movies like Young Frankenstein, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Tootsie, and Mr. Mom.

Rent Kurt and Goldie’s Beachfront Malibu Home

HawnrussellMalibuKurt Russell and Goldie Hawn put their Broad Beach Road house up for lease this summer. The cost? Only $95,000. Per month, two month minimum from June to September.

Well, what do you get for that tiny wad of cash? According to the listing, the master suite has floor-to-ceiling windows, a beachfront balcony, a luxurious spa-inspired bath area, and walk-in closet. The house also has a media/screening room, two other large bedroom suites, and a detached guest/meditation room and gym. You know, to meditate on why you’re not down on the beach just feet away. Or to work out so you’ll look fabulous on said beach.

Take a close look at the picture and you’ll see a great entertainment area with some serious green lawn space. And the view in the background? Spectacular vistas of the Pacific, my darlings.

The listing, as Real Estalker points out, mentions that the rental home is for sale. We’re not sure if that’s a typo or if they’ve actually listed the property. Since there’s no other price listed, we think it’s just a rental. For now.

Bono Sells His Central Park West Co-Op

Bono from U2U2 front man Bono recently sold his El Dorado co-op for $4.9 million. He originally bought the place for $3.4 million - a tidy little profit. According to The New York Observer, he had moved out of the apartment five years ago so he could live in Steve Jobs’ old place just down the block at San Remo.

The El Dorado place originally went on the market for $5.95 million in March 2006. Looks like over a year on the market and a $1 million price drop was what it needed. We don’t think he’ll miss a measly million though. This little abode has 2 small bedrooms, a master suite, and a nice view of Central Park from the living room and terrace.

Since Bono and his wife are still in the old Jobs’ apartment, it makes us wonder if he finally found what he’s looking for? Oh, c’mon. You knew that was coming, my darlings.

Kevin Spacey Cuts Price on his TrBeCa Space

2257631360_19feee5fab_m.jpgKevin Spacey, such a private celeb that many real estate hounds didn’t even know he owned luxury property in Manhattan, recently lowered the price on his TriBeCa duplex condo from $5 million down to $4.675 million. But the word is out, now. As are the pics.

Speculation abounds about the size of Spacey’s unit (now, kiddies, don’t go there - we’re talking about his condo). Big Time listings reports that public records list it at 3418 square feet, while the property listing (which has since become unavailable), says 2363 square feet. Regardless, they all seem to agree that it has three bedrooms and two and a half baths.

It has some nice features. We especially like the kitchen, even though the cabinets are a tad on the dark side for our taste. But the number of cabinets, plus the buffet, more than make up for it. The master suite appears to have a walk-out terrace, and all of the rooms have lots of windows. And we are all about the natural lighting, my pretties.

We don’t have numbers on what Spacey bought the place for, nor is there any word on why the listing no longer comes up. Maybe someone already snapped up the place.

Spacey is known for a litany of films, our favorite being "The Usual Suspects." Although, his cameo in "Austin Powers (Goldmember)" comes in a close second. Remember, Keyser Sose is watching.

Kenny Chesney One of Latest Stars to Buy Malibu Property

Earlier this year, country music star Kenny Chesney purchased a Malibu home for $7.4 million. Chesney is a superstar in Nashville land, regularly selling out his concerts.

The house is small by Malibu standards, with two bedrooms and three baths. Listings mention a pool, farmhouse kitchen, nicely-sized living areas and outdoor verandas. With just over a 1/2 acre, though, it’s no slouch in the land department. With gardens, lawns, water views, outdoor oven and barbecue, and an infinity pool (which we would love to have), this sounds like a nice little space for entertaining.

And since Chesney’s brief 2005 marriage to Renee Zellweger went by the wayside, he’s been enjoying his beach party lifestyle. This home certainly does help perpetuate that image. Having said all that, we do admit that Chesney’s concerts are not only wildly popular, but quite entertaining as well. And full of beer. Lots and lots of beer. Still, he’s come a long way from "She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy." Thankfully.

Update: No sooner did we report this news, and find that Chesney’s February purchase is already back up for sale. Chesney is said to be too busy to spend time in Malibu.
