Tom Brady lowers his Manhattan condo price
And in more famous footballer news, Tom Brady has dropped the price on his Time Warner Center “ultra-luxury” condo by $540,000. Brady relisted his home this summer at $18.29 million, up from the original 2007 $16.5 million price. This drop of a half million isn’t a huge surprise, considering the state of economy.
Brady re-listed his condo right around the same time that his girlfriend, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, listed her West Village penthouse.
As we mentioned previously, the three-bedroom, 3.5 bath condo comes with full hotel service from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, including a full-time doorman and concierge service.

Kiefer Sutherland buys in Manhattan’s West Village
It wasn’t too long ago that we talked about Kiefer Sutherland and his Los Angeles warehouse listing. And now, Sutherland has bought a five-story townhouse in the West Village for $8,250,000.
The town home was built in 1905 and is somewhere between ~3,700 and ~4,800 square feet depending on which records you peruse. There isn’t a ton of information about Sutherland’s purchase, according to Big Time Listings. But those savvy searchers found a previous listing of the home that mentions several fireplaces and a garden.
We’re quite sad, actually, that we don’t have more pictures so we can admire the architecture of the home and see what it looks like now that it has been converted (reportedly) from a six unit property to a single family.
Does this mean that Kiefer is leaving the west coast? It seems that the next season of 24 is going to be set in Washington, D.C., which could explain why he bought a place on the east coast. Production recently shut down on the series while producers revise the direction of the series’ last six episodes.

Alice buys in Manhattan
Actress Linda Lavin paid $949,000 for a one-bedroom in Manhattan’s Central Park South. Now we best remember Ms. Lavin as “Alice” in the hit TV show of the same name. Oh, how we remember laughing at Alice, Mel, Vera, and Flo. And getting in trouble for telling people to “Kiss my grits!” But that’s a story for another time.
The listing notes the co-op has 1 bedroom, 1.5 baths, and 3.5 rooms total in approximately 1,050-square-feet. The renovated kitchen has marble counter tops, white cabinets and ceramic tile floors. Incredibly, this small space has 6 closets, 3 of which are walk-ins.
Lavin’s new pad is close to the Park, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center. And since there’s a garage, this is a place where one could actually own a car. The building has a doorman, concierge, elevator men (really?) and valet service. Of course, she’ll pay just over a grand a month for the maintenance fees.

Philip Seymour Hoffman buys in the West Village
In June it was rumored that actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was under contract to purchase a place in Manhattan’s West Village. Last week the $4,250,000 purchase was confirmed. The 6-room loft has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
The prewar co-op has high ceilings, which I (and that very tall mister of mine) do like. It really does help give the feeling of big spaces, even when you don’t have them. It also boasts of doors from Provence, gorgeous wood floors, and fireplace (perfect for those nasty Manhattan winters).
The living area is large. It’s quite possible you could host a bowling alley lane or two in there. While the open floor plan can be great for making the space seem, well, huge, we like a little bit of division in our rooms. So we can work without TV noise, and all that jazz.
You can see exposed brick walls here and there. We realize it’s a design feature but it does seem a bit odd to have one in the bathroom. Also in that bathroom? A tub, sitting by its lonesome in what seems to be a fairly large bathroom. Of course, there’s a shower and toilet off to the side, but the tub appears to be the centerpiece. And if you love to take baths, that’s probably a pretty awesome feature.
The New York Post mentioned that Hoffman and his girlfriend Mimi O’Donnell have been looking for a place for two years. We guess they wanted to find THE perfect spot for them and their two children.
We admit we haven’t seen a lot of Hoffman’s work, including his Oscar-winning performance. But we have seen a few of them, including Cold Mountain and Almost Famous.

Gisele re-lists West Village penthouse
Gisele Bundchen, fancypants supermodel, has re-listed her Manhattan penthouse, asking $5.9 million for the ~1,700-square-foot apartment. It was previously listed at $10.9 million in Fall 2007. That’s quite a drop in her asking price. Ms. Bundchen originally paid around $3 million for the unit, according to the WSJ, and this is not the first time she has dropped the price.
Listing information calls it a West Village spectacular triplex condominium apartment with breathtaking views of the Hudson River. The 2-bedroom, 2.5-bath home has a key-locked elevator for privacy with a loft-style living room (including a fireplace).
It features a dining area and an open kitchen. In addition, how about a terrace with a 47-foot long outdoor area for entertaining? With a grill and dining furniture, to boot! And the two bedrooms are supposed to appear suspended over the river. That could either be really cool, if you like the view, or quite scary if you’re afraid of heights or water.
The third level of the penthouse features a jacuzzi/hot tub. Perfect for relaxing after a long, tiresome day. We would love to stretch out at night, enjoying the views and the lights. Sign us up! But at around $3,400 a square-foot, it better have a damn-fine interior. The listing conveniently leaves out any inside photos, preferring to concentrate on the terrace and views.
And maybe that’s part of the problem - buyers want to catch a glimpse of a place before trekking all over the kingdom, up and down stairs and elevators. They need some enticement and it’s possible they just aren’t getting it on this listing. Or maybe it’s still just too expensive.

Ralph Fiennes Buys Condo in Manhattan
Ralph Fiennes closed a deal on a 2 bedroom (1 bed + office) condo in Manhattan’s Meatpacking district, paying $2 million for a mere 1200 square foot. Of course, in New York real estate, that’s not a big surprise.
The listing boasts of Empire State Building views and a roof-top deck. It also touts a top-of-the-line kitchen, high ceilings, and plenty of storage in the master bedroom closet.
From what we can see in the (tiny) pics, the kitchen appears to have stainless-steel appliances - and possibly a stainless sink, too. The bathroom has a nice, large shower. It’s hard to tell if the soaking tub is also nice and large, but one would hope so. But in 1,200 square-feet, we doubt it.

Kevin Spacey Cuts Price on his TrBeCa Space
Kevin Spacey, such a private celeb that many real estate hounds didn’t even know he owned luxury property in Manhattan, recently lowered the price on his TriBeCa duplex condo from $5 million down to $4.675 million. But the word is out, now. As are the pics.
Speculation abounds about the size of Spacey’s unit (now, kiddies, don’t go there - we’re talking about his condo). Big Time listings reports that public records list it at 3418 square feet, while the property listing (which has since become unavailable), says 2363 square feet. Regardless, they all seem to agree that it has three bedrooms and two and a half baths.
It has some nice features. We especially like the kitchen, even though the cabinets are a tad on the dark side for our taste. But the number of cabinets, plus the buffet, more than make up for it. The master suite appears to have a walk-out terrace, and all of the rooms have lots of windows. And we are all about the natural lighting, my pretties.
We don’t have numbers on what Spacey bought the place for, nor is there any word on why the listing no longer comes up. Maybe someone already snapped up the place.
Spacey is known for a litany of films, our favorite being "The Usual Suspects." Although, his cameo in "Austin Powers (Goldmember)" comes in a close second. Remember, Keyser Sose is watching.
