Pete Sampras sells Beverly Hills home for just under $17 million

Sampras-XTennis star Pete Sampras recently sold his Beverly Hills mansion for $16,980,000 - about $6,000,000 less than his asking price of $23,000,000. Big Time Listings reports the sale of Sampras’ 10,000+ square foot home based on public records.

It’s quite a mansion that Sampras has sold to Will & Grace creator Max Mutchnick. While it “only” has 5 bedrooms, it has a whopping 12 bathrooms. That’s more than one for every 1,000 square feet. At least there’s little risk of not finding an open bath when you need it.

The hallway and stairs, as you can see in the pictures below, are all wood and pretty amazing. Lots of architectural detail there. Let’s see, in addition to the beds and baths, it has a professional theater (which we noticed has a nice pool table, too), an office/library, and even maid’s quarters. While we don’t care about the maid’s quarters, a nice place to watch movies and football, along with a great office/library is right up our alley.

But what’s even more to our tastes? How about a master suite with a sitting room, his and hers baths, and a sundeck. Now that’s exactly what a master suite needs.

Outside, on 1.04 acres, there’s a pool, putting green, play areas, and a tennis court. Of course there’s a tennis court. And check out the courtyard with fountain. Dramatic, no?

Considering Sampras bought the home for $8,300,000 in 2001, he made a tidy little profit after seven years.

Nicholas Cage re-lists Bel Air mansion

NicholascagehomeNicholas Cage recently re-listed his 11,800-square-foot Bel Air mansion for just under $30 million. Cage had pulled the 9-bedroom, 9-bath home’s listing in December of last year. It had been for sale for $35 million.

Big Time Listings reports the house came back on the market September 3rd at $29,999,000. It has approximately 1 acre of land according to the listing, a large lot these days for anywhere in Los Angeles. The 1940 mansion features a breakfast area and dining area, den, family and living rooms, an office, and a library/study.

It also includes high ceilings (which we love, except for when it’s time to change a light bulb), a theater, a custom wine cellar, game room, and an Olympic size pool. Hey, maybe Michael Phelps should take a good look at this place.

Cage isn’t the first celebrity to own this amazing property. Dean Martin once owned the place, as did Tom Jones (who had it for over 20 years). But don’t think you can go wonder through the home on a whim, darlings. The listing states it will only be shown to pre-qualified buyers. No lookey-loos allowed.

In July, we mentioned another property that Cage had listed in Las Vegas for $9,950,000. Sounds like Nicholas is clearing out some of his property holdings.
