According to Terazas de Coson, “life in the Dominican Republic just got a little greener.” I make no comment on the “green-ness” or otherwise of a resort that must be traveled thousands of miles to to be enjoyed, but this one does seem to be making more of an effort than the usual “sustainable,” claims made by every new development that comes across my path. I would think that this will be of interest to anyone interested in buying property in the Dominican Republic. This is the press release:

Nestled among the rolling hills of Samana, next to the popular beach town of Las Terrenas, lies the exclusive new property Terrazas de Coson. The project is the realization of one man’s dream to live in the midst of natural beauty without sacrificing the modern conveniences of today. Thus, European developers VALMAN created the ultimate “eco-chic” lifestyle, available to elite travelers from around the globe.

Existing in perfect harmony with nature, Terrazas de Coson consists of 72 exclusive “Villa Estates” nestled within the foliage of the hillside and spread across 370 acres of land offering the utmost in privacy and splendor. The villas are available in three designs and range up to 12,000 square feet (1040M²). To take advantage of the unique surroundings, VALMAN enlisted international design experts GVA to fashion each villa around its particular setting. Owners will have three ‘models’ to choose from, yet each final product will be entirely unique from the next. Due to the efforts of Carlisle, the world-wide leader in ecologically compatible construction techniques, each villa will feature a garden tile roof that saves power and diminishes environmental impact. All homes will run on solar energy and will be built with natural, eco-friendly materials.

Each estate offers unparalleled views of the ocean and surrounding mountains; as the property is breathtakingly positioned 200 meters above sea level. Homes also boast multiple infinity pools as well as waterfalls and streams that wind throughout the residences. With a global acknowledgment of the importance of ‘green initiatives,’ Terrazas de Coson could not come at a more opportune time, showing the world’s elite how to continue living a life of luxury while contributing to a better earth.

In addition to the estates, Terrazas de Coson will feature an exclusive five-star boutique hotel with 28 bungalows accessed by a tram-like railway. Each bungalow has its own plunge pool, and the complex will host additional infinity pools and water features throughout. Terrazas de Coson strives to provide both residents and guests with an extensive collection of conveniences and exclusive opportunities such as indoor and outdoor bars, a tennis club, a private beach club and spa, and several restaurants, including a five-star eatery headed by world renowned Chef Christophe Leroy.

The town of Las Terrenas is conveniently located only steps away; visitors can enjoy the picturesque village with its abundance of international bars, cafes and restaurants, shops, boutiques and more. The balmy climate and warm breezes on the Samana Peninsula make for perfect exploration of outdoor adventures including horseback riding and 4-wheeling, as well as water sports such as snorkeling, diving, windsurfing and kite surfing. The habitat itself offers a myriad of breathtaking sights including Haitises National Park and the Salto Del Limon waterfall (known as a miniature “Victoria Falls”).

With its own heliport, Terrazas de Coson is easily accessible while upholding the privacy it promises. Central to six airports, including the new El Catey International Airport only 15 minutes away, the project is conveniently located off the new highway from the capital of Santo Domingo which has shortened the drive from 5 hours to a mere 1.5 hours.
